Do I need to book surfing lessons in advance?

Yes, we recommend you book your surfing lessons in advance with us using our online booking service or give us a call on 01736 755556, head over to our 'Surfing Lessons' page to make a booking.

What do we need to bring with us for our surfing lesson?

All we ask you bring is your swim kit and a towel. If you want to bring your own wetsuit, that's no problem, we recommend not wearing a shortie wetsuit for your lesson as you may get cold, unless its super sunny! Please arrive 15 minutes before your lesson to check in.
 

Is there parking at both of your locations?

Yes there is parking at both locations. At Away Resorts St Ives Bay, there is a car park behind the surf school building which is free. At Godrevy, we are located in the National Trust car park for Godrevy. If you are a National Trust member, it's free parking, if not, there is a pay machine that accepts coins. To pay by card, download the PayByPhone app which is displayed on the side of the pay machines. 

What is the youngest age you allow to participate in surf lessons?

The youngest we allow are 7 years and above. We do ask that 7 year olds are accompanied by an adult during the lesson, that is either the adult books in for a lesson themselves, or they borrow a wetsuit from us to accompany the child in the water during their lesson. We ask for everyone participating in Surf Lessons to be able to swim at least 25m in a pool unaided. 

Are there toilets and shower facilities close by?

At Away Resorts St Ives Bay, we have toilets in the cafe across from the surf school you can use. They do ask for you not to enter in wet wetsuits.  There is a cold shower at the surf school and also showers by the side of the swimming pool across from the surf school building. At Godrevy in the top field car park, there are toilets there which is a 10 minute walk from our setup in the bottom car park. There are no shower facilities at our Godrevy location.

What is your cancellation policy regarding lessons?

No refund shall be given less than 24 hours from your scheduled lesson. We can reschedule if there is a legitimate reason why you cannot attend the lesson on that day. If we are unable to reschedule, we can email you a voucher which is the value of your lesson for you to re-book with us at a future date.
 

You can reschedule your surf lesson online through our booking system up to 7 days before date of lesson. If you need to reschedule your surf lesson within 7 days of the start date please contact us via landline or email and we will do our best to assist you.

 

If we have to cancel your lesson e.g. storms, no waves, we will reschedule your lesson to another day. If this doesn't work, we can give you a full refund.

Are Dogs allowed on the beach?

​

At Godrevy, dogs are allowed in the carpark and along the walk paths along the cliff, but they are not allowed on the beach between the 1st July - 31st August. At Away Resorts St Ives Bay, dogs are now allowed to enter the campsite and are allowed onto Gwithian beach which is located behind the holiday park.
